1. The Purpose Of Messengers.

Read In……..     URDU           HINDI

The Creater created man. And wanted! That people should be grateful to their creator (Q-51:56). And ordered to follow the rules and regulations. But man rejected the commandments and indulged in evil deeds. Allah loves man. Therefore, he chose some specific people from among the people of each nation to lead the people on the right path. (Q-35:24). And these special people were called Messengers or Prophets. The purpose of the prophets was to guide lost people to the right path.

Allah sent the commands to the Messengers (Prophets) through revelation. And commanded the Messengers! That they should make people recognize their creator. And purify them from oppression and disbelief.

Many scriptures and four books (the Torah, the Injeel, Zaboor, and the Qur’an) came into existence from the commands that came through revelation.

Allah took a covenant from all the Messengers, that they should deliver the proofs and books that were revealed to them to the people. (Q-5: 67, 16: 44, 33: 7-8). And follow that which has been revealed to them. (Q-6: 50 and 106).

Every Messenger from Hazrat Adam (A.S.) to the last Messenger Muhammad (S.A.W.) had this goal. That apart from other inanimate gods, invite people to worship that one God. (Q-21: 25). That the one who created these universes in six days. (According to the earth time Six thosands Yea). And created the jinn and the humans.

Allah gave the Messengers leadership in both the world and the hereafter.

Worldly Headship: –

  1. To guide people and show them the way of guidance. (Q-13: 30).
  2. To make people recognize their true Lord that God is One. (Q-2: 255).
  3. Conveying Allah’s commands and rules. (Q-13: 30).
  4. To establish justice and fairness. (Q-6: 51).

Headship of the Hereafter: –

  1. So that after the coming of the Messengers, people will not have a chance to accuse God. (Quran-4: 165). That is, no polytheist or hypocrite can say this on the day of Divine. That we did not know a God alone. Otherwise, we would have worshiped a God alone. And we do not make Devil our friend.
  2. All the Messengers or Prophets (peace be upon them) will be witnesses on the Divine Day. That he had conveyed the message of Allah to the people. (Q-4: 41 to 42, 16: 89).
  3. A matter of intercession. Those persons who died in a god’s faith. In order to forgive their sins and enter Paradise, Allah Almighty will appoint them to intercede with the Messengers or Prophets. That is, every Messenger will have the right to intercede only for those people whose intercession will be accepted by Allah Ta’ala. (Q-34:23, 2:255).

Intercession is a topic that causes a person to commit shirk and disbelief knowingly or unknowingly. Therefore, God willing, we will try to shed light on its details separately in the future.

Allah Ta’ala did not made mandatory this on any prophet. That they should force people to bring them to the truth. (Q-50: 45). However, it was mandatory that the people you could reach, Invite them to the truth. Then whether they take the right path or remain in error. (Q-27: 92, 6: 48). Because Allah guides whom He wills and leads astray whom He wills. (Q-14: 4).

Commandments of the Messengers for the children of Adam.

[Q-07:35-36]

O Children of Adam! If there come to you Messengers from amongst you, reciting to you, My Verses, then whosoever becomes pious and righteous, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. 35. But those who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and treat them with arrogance, they are the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire, they will abide therein forever. 36.

[Q-04:136]

O you who believe! Believe in Allah, and His Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ), and the Book (the Qur’an) which He has sent down to His Messenger, and the Scripture which He sent down to those before (him), and whosoever disbelieves in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Last Day, then indeed he has strayed far away. 136.

The purpose of sending the Messengers.

[Q-4:163-165]

We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.  And Messengers We have mentioned to you before, and Messengers We have not mentioned to you, – and to Musa (Moses) Allah spoke directly. Messengers as bearers of good news as well as of warning in order that mankind should have no plea against Allah after the Messengers. And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise. “163-165”

[Q-04:64]

We sent not a messengers, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. 64.

[Q-05:99]

Not upon the Messenger is except [for] notification. And Allah knows whatever you reveal and whatever you conceal.99.

[Q-18:56-57]

And We send not the Messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule. “56”

The instrument of you ﷺ and all the Messengers.

[Q-13:38-39]

We did send messengers before thee, and appointed for them wives and children: and it was never the part of a messenger to bring a sign except as Allah permitted (or commanded). For each period is a Book (revealed). Allah blots out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the mother of the Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz) “38-39”

[Q-14:1-2]

Alif-Lam-Ra.  (This is) a Book which We have revealed unto you (O Muhammad ﷺ) in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of belief in the Oneness of Allah and Islamic Monotheism) by their Lord’s Leave to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Owner of all Praise. Allah to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth! And woe unto the disbelievers from a severe torment. “1-2”

[Q-16:44]

And We have also sent down unto you (O Muhammad ﷺ) the reminder and the advice (the Qur’an), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them, and that they may give thought. “44”

[Q-07:02]

(This is the) Book (the Qur’an) sent down unto you (O Muhammad ﷺ), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2.

[Q-13:30]

Thus, have We sent you (O Muhammad ﷺ) to a community before whom other communities have passed away, in order that you might recite unto them what We have revealed to you. “30”

[Q-17:105]

And with the truth We have sent the Qur’an down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.105.

Allah orders to Messenger to make his position clear.

[Q-06:50]

Say, [O Muhammad], “I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me.” Say, “Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Then will you not give thought?” ”50”

*********************

Surely the Messenger (prophet) is special. But they were human.

[Q-17:93-95]

Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): “Glorified (and exalted) be my Lord (Allah) above all that evil they (polytheists) associate with Him! Am I anything but a man, sent as a Messenger?” And nothing prevented men from believing when the guidance came to them, except that they said: “Has Allah sent a man as (His) Messenger?” Say: “If there were on the earth, angels walking about in peace and security, we should certainly have sent down for them from the heaven an angel as a Messenger.” “93-95”

[Q-22:75-76]

Allah chooses Messengers from angels and from men. Verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer.

That is, only Allah knows who is capable of becoming a messenger.

He knows what is before them, and what is behind them. And to Allah return all matters (for decision). “75-76”

[Q-13:38]

And We have already sent messengers before you and assigned to them wives and descendants. And it was not for a messenger to come with a sign except by permission of Allah. For every term is a decree.

[Q-14:11]

Their Messengers said to them: “We are no more than human beings like you, but Allah bestows His Grace to whom he wills of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you an authority (proof) except by the permission of Allah. And in Allah (Alone) let the believers put their trust. “11”

[Q-17:86-87]

And if we willed, we could surely take away that which We have revealed to you by inspiration (i.e., this Qur’an). Then you would find no protector against Us in that respect. Except as a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! His Grace unto you (O Muhammad ﷺ) is ever great. “86-87”

********************

Messengers were chosen in their national language only.

[Q-14:04]

And We sent not a Messenger except with the language of his people, in order that he might make (the Message) clear to them. Then Allah misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.”4″

********************

Messengers (A.S) conveyed the message of Allah to every nation of the world.

[Q-43:23-25]

And similarly, we did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, “Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following.” [Each warner] said, “Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?” They said, “Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers.” So, we took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.23-25”

Prophethood was given only to men.

[Q-21:7-8]

And We sent not before you (O Muhammad ﷺ) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures – the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, “7-8”

[Q-16:43]

And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before you (O Muhammad ﷺ) any but men, whom We inspired, (to preach and invite mankind to believe in the Oneness of Allah). So, ask of those who know the Scripture [learned men of the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], if you know not. With clear signs and Books (We sent the Messengers).

[Q-12:109]

And We sent not before you (as Messengers) any but men, whom We inspired from among the people of townships. “109”

**********************

Messengers are also ordered to follow the revelations revealed to them.

[Q-06:106]

Follow, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord – there is no deity except Him – and turn away from those who associate others with Allah.

*********************

Messengers are not responsible for their community.

[Q-06:107]

But if Allah had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as a guardian, nor are you a manager over them.

[Q-06:104]

There has come to your enlightenment from your Lord. So, whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], “I am not a guardian over you.”

[Q-27:92]

And to recite the Qur’an, so whosoever receives guidance, receives it for the good of his ownself, and whosoever goes astray, say (to him): “I am only one of the warners.” “92”

[Q-13:40]

And whether we fulfill some of the promises we make to them in your lifetime or take you in death, surely your job is to deliver the message. And our job is to take account.

[Q-34:50]

Say: “If (even) I go astray, I shall stray only to my own loss. But if I remain guided, it is because of the Inspiration of my Lord to me. Truly, He is All-Hearer, Ever Near (to all things).” “50”

[Q-13:30]

Thus, have We sent you to a community before which [other] communities have passed on so you might recite to them that which We revealed to you, while they disbelieve in the Most Merciful. Say, “He is my Lord; there is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely, and to Him is my return.” “30”

[Q-06:48]

And We send not messengers but as announcers of good news and givers of warning, then whoever believes and acts right, they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.”48″

[Q-04:64]

And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah.

[Q-53:56]

This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners.

That is, Muhammad ﷺ is also a messenger like the previous messengers.

2. People to their true Lord! To recognize God alone.

[Q-02:255]

Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

[Q-13:30]

Thus, have We sent you to a community before which [other] communities have passed on so you might recite to them that which We revealed to you, while they disbelieve in the Most Merciful. Say, “He is my Lord; there is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely, and to Him is my return.”

[Q-18:110]

Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): “I am only a man like you. It has been inspired to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God i.e., Allah). So, whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.” “110”

[Q-11:1-2]

Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted. [Through a messenger, saying], “Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings,”

3. Delivering Allah’s commands and rules.

[Q-5:67]

O Messenger! deliver what has been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do it not, then you have not delivered His message.

4. To establish justice and fairness.

[Q-57:25]

We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. “25”

(B) Headship of Messengers in the Hereafter: –

1. There will be no excuse for ignorance of Islam on the Day of God.

[Q-35:24-25]

Verily! We have sent you with the truth, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner. And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them. And if they belie you, those before them also belied. Their Messengers came to them with clear signs, and with the Scriptures, and the book giving light. “24-25”

2. Prophet as a witness for conveying the message of Allah to the people.

[Q-33:7-8]

And [mention, O Muhammad], when We took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus, the son of Mary; and We took from them a solemn covenant. That He may question the truthful about their truth.

[Q-04:41-42]

So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness? That Day, those who disbelieved and disobeyed the Messenger will wish they could be covered by the earth. And they will not conceal from Allah a [single] statement.

[Q-16:89]

And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.

[Q-02: 143]

And thus, we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you.

God will question the prophets. That the promise was taken from him. Was my message conveyed to the people according to that? And the Prophet will bear witness, verily (of course) We had delivered. And the witnesses of the former prophets will be Allah’s Messenger Muhammad ﷺ and his Ummah. Because you ﷺ and Ummah Mohammadiya will confirm the commands of Allah to the Prophets from the Qur’an. And being the last prophet and ummah (community) on earth, he will observe the ummah of all the prophets.

[Q-48:8-9]

Verily, we have sent you (O Muhammad ﷺ) as a witness, as a bearer of glad tidings, and as a warner. That you [people] may believe in Allah and His Messenger and honor him and respect the Prophet and exalt Allah morning and afternoon. “8-9”

[Q-35:24]

Indeed, we have sent you as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner with the truth. And there was not a nation that did not have an intimidator passing through it.

3. Intercession of the prophets for the ummahs (communities).

[Q-02:255]

Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?

[Q-34:23]

And intercession with God will not be beneficial. But for that, of which he allows.

There is no use of force in religion.

[Q-02:256]

There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So, whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

[Q-50:45]

We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur’an whoever fears My threat.
